MPR’s Cathy Wurzer had the right reaction to the story of “peace bubble man,” who’s on the receiving end of snickers and jokes after he was rescued over the weekend.
“At least he tried,” she said this morning.
Reza Baluchi had the right idea. He wanted to “run” through dozens of countries to raise a little awareness for the fleeting concept that maybe people should stop trying to kill each other, and that a little more effort should be put into helping the world’s children.
The Coast Guard picked him up 70 miles off the Florida coast, after he refused to end his quest.
Baluchi was granted asylum in 2003 after after flying Iran where he was arrested in Iran for conducting pro-Western and anti-Islamic activities. He’s now a U.S. citizen
