Here in the colonies, we are sorely lacking in appropriate traditions. We’ve got nothing to compare with today’s Ladies Day at Aintree in Liverpool, a celebration of racing and fashion. We have not yet calculated, however, whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

A son of Massachusetts, he was a news editor 1992-1998, created the MPR News regional website in 1999, invented the popular Select A Candidate, started several blogs, and every day lamented that his Minnesota Fantasy Legislature project never caught on.
