Here’s something we don’t see around here very often, given the Minnesota Timberwolves’ inability to hit an outside shot.
That’s John Queenan, of Trumbull, CT., who hit a mid-court shot for a new car during a halftime promotion at a college basketball game on Monday, apparently witnessed by literally tens of people.
But the rule says the person has to be behind the half-court line and the people running the promotion deferred to the company that insures the contest.
Queenan, who works in a bank, pointed out that there is no half-court line where from where he shot.
Chevrolet, which knows bad publicity coming from a mile away, intervened and called him last night to say he’ll get the car.
“It was the right thing to do,” said Leo Karl, the president of Karl Chevrolet in New Canaan, who watched the video several times. “We decided to award him the car regardless of the what the insurance company does.”
