At the state high school wrestling tournament, St. Michael Albertville High School’s Mitchell McKee really wanted to win the state title for his father, who has terminal cancer.
“I prayed ‘God help me win this match’ so I can go win a state title for my dad,” McKee tells KARE 11.
And he did win, which means, of course, someone has to lose.
Malik Stewart, a Blaine High School sophomore, is that someone.
“I went through the same thing when I was younger but my dad didn’t pass by cancer. It was by a heart attack, so I know what he is going through,” said Stewart, whose dad died when he was seven.
So a little sportsmanship was in order…
