One year, one city

You could probably spend a couple of hours on the Boston Globe’s website today, just mousing over this photo of survivors and helpers who were at the Boston Marathon finish line a year ago today. Go here.

The stories, of course, are compelling. The staging of the photograph is fascinating. Note how many people have their hand on someone else’s shoulder. There’s a message there.

Also note that the first responders — the people who ran to where everyone else was running from — are in the back. David Ortiz of the Red Sox and the Boston Bruins’ DinoZdeno Chara are near the front. There’s a message there somewhere, too.

WBUR in Boston is providing live coverage of a ceremony at the finish line this morning starting at 11 a.m.
