MinnPost, the Twin Cities-based independent online news site, announced today that it will begin charging for some of its content.
Publisher Andrew Wallmeyer announced the MinnPost+ program, which will make some content available only to people who donate $60 or more a year.
“We plan to add more MinnPost+ offerings in the future, but we remain committed to keeping our core daily journalism free to all, regardless of whether they support us financially,” he said.
Wallmeyer said those who become paying members will not see pop-up ads on the site.
But he indicated MinnPost needs more revenue to provide more journalism.
