Here’s an update on our post a week or so ago about Apple giving free iPads and other Apple products to wealthy Cleveland Indians baseball players who had held a player’s 100th home run ball for the ransom.
There was, you may recall, a fair amount of kvetching about the pitchers in the bullpen getting free things they could’ve purchased with the change from their meal money.
Yesterday, the players donated 12 iPads to the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland.
“Once Apple told us they were fulfilling our ransom,” Indians reliever Scott Atchison said, “we felt we should give something back. So, we pulled some money together to take care of them, so they can use these iPads however they want.”
