Senatobia, Miss., Municipal School District Superintendent Jay Foster told the audience at a high school graduation to refrain from cheering and applauding until the end of the ceremony, he wasn’t messing around.
He’s turned the law loose on four people for cheering when their relatives got their diploma, according to TV station WREG.
“When she went across the stage I just called her name out. ‘Lakaydra’. Just like that,” Ursula Miller said about shouting about her niece.
“It’s crazy,” Henry Walker said. “The fact that I might have to bond out of jail, pay court costs, or a $500 fine for expressing my love, it’s ridiculous man. It’s ridiculous.”
Four people were thrown out of the commencement.
“Why assign papers on someone? We don’t have money for anything like that,” Linda Walker said.
Foster, who declined to be interviewed, swore out arrest warrants against the four for disturbing the peace.
