Where do you meet your kidney donor? At the ballgame, of course

With the Minnesota Twins in Boston to face the Red Sox yesterday, it was the perfect time for Eden Stone of West Roxbury, Mass., to meet Paula Kelly of St. Paul.

Next Tuesday they’ll meet each other again — inside Boston’s Beth Israel Hospital when Eden will get one of Paula’s kidneys.

The kidneys of all of Eden’s relatives failed to match what she needed, so one of her friends posted her plight — her kidney failure comes from diabetes — on Facebook.

“It was last July,” Paula tells the Boston Herald. “Being a donor was something I could do because I have this philosophy that life is not fair and it has been more fair to me than to a lot of people. This is a way that maybe I can do something good.”

The meeting at the ballpark was pure coincidence, the paper says.
