The Texas kid who started a national furor when he took a clock he made to school and got detained for suspicion of making a bomb is getting his trip to Washington at the invitation of the president. But Ahmed Mohamed,14, won’t be getting any time with President Obama after all.
Mohamed, who was born in Sudan, got some presidential support the day after his arrest when Obama invited him to the White House.

The young man is at the White House today, but not to meet the president. Instead, he’s one of the guests at the White House Astronomy Night.
White House, press secretary Josh Earnest said the president won’t meet with Ahmed, the Dallas Morning News says. The president will speak at the event.
“President Obama, at every stage, tries to politicize what happens, whether it is this teenager here in Texas, whether it is the shootings we saw in the Pacific Northwest,” presidential candidate Ted Cruz said yesterday.
“I was positive before any of this happened, and I’ll keep staying positive,” Ahmed said today.
