It was a pretty good week to be a member of the Grand Rapids, Minn., police department. When they pulled people over, they got hugs for a change.
Anonymous donors gave the department a pile of cash, so the police gave it away to random drivers, Northland News Center says.
“I didn’t have any money for Christmas at this point,” Gary Perrett said when he got pulled over. “I’m a disabled veteran and so I work from paycheck to paycheck.”
It took about an hour for the department to give away the $2,000.
Recently, first responders in Grand Rapids held a “Shop With a Hero” day, taking kids Christmas shopping and giving each $100 to spend.
