All politics aside, if that’s even remotely possible anymore, can we at least agree that the White House concerts over the last eight years have outclassed all previous administrations?
“Whatever genre of music he was playing, there was no mistaking his singular sound: that virtuoso piano playing that matched that one-of-a-kind voice,” President Obama said at the White House, where he and first lady Michelle Obama hosted a taping of “Smithsonian Salutes Ray Charles: In Performance at the White House.”
The White House concerts, which usually end up on PBS, are the only times blues and soul can get any airplay anymore.
Eight of Ray Charles’ children weren’t invited to the festivities, the Washington Post reported.
