How bad is Harvey? The National Weather Service had to add new colors to its rainfall map

You know it’s bad when the National Weather Service has to add a whole new color or two to its map depicting how much rain has fallen in southeastern Texas.

The storm has dumped more than 20 inches of rain in portions of southeast Texas since Thursday night. By the time it’s all said and done, some parts of Houston and its suburbs could get as much as 50 inches of rain. That would be the highest amount ever recorded in Texas.
