From time to time on NewsCut, we have considered the proposition that one cannot pursue one’s passion and also make a living. Pick one or the other when deciding on a career, kids.
But then we see a story like Keanon Kyles’, who makes his living as an opera singer.
Also as a janitor.
He was a janitor first and he told an interview in 2016 his big break in his desire to be an opera singer came as the result of this advice someone gave him: Never give up on your dreams.
“I want young people to know they don’t have to wait for anybody to hand them something, or tell them you deserve it,” he said. “If you believe it, work at it. Being a star doesn’t begin when you reach the spotlight. It starts the moment that light bulb goes on that this is what you want to do.”
