O’Neill acknowledged to the Cleveland Plain Dealer that he wrote the post in defense of Sen. Al Franken, but he also defended Alabama U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore.

He’s been convicted of nothing and he’s never had the opportunity to defend himself and that violates due process in America. The media is about to determine the election of a United States Senate campaign.”

He also acknowledged his number of 50 women might not be accurate.

O’Neill’s Democratic rivals for governor called on him to resign.
