Jared Kushner is tasked with some high-level responsibilities as the senior adviser to President Trump. Kushner, who is also the president’s son-in-law, has worked to negotiate a peaceful resolution to long-standing conflicts in the Middle East, met with leaders of ally nations like Saudi Arabia and talked trade with China and Mexico.

A flight scheduled to take off Friday will attempt to return Somali detainees to their country of origin. Riham discusses a few of the stumbling blocks getting in the way — like a TB scare and a refusal by Somalia to accept emigres returned by the United States. Riham Feshir will have the story.

7 p.m. – The World
A Dreamer of a different kind. A family from India relocates to Mississippi. The mom and dad have good jobs, and work visas. But their college student son? His visa expires when he turns 21.
8 p.m. – Fresh Air
Comics and actors Nick Kroll and John Mulaney. The two will be hosting the Independent Spirit Awards on IFC Saturday night, honoring the year’s best independent films. They also can be heard doing two of the lead voices in the new Netflix animated comedy series, Big Mouth, about a group of junior high kids going thru puberty. Kroll co-created the series. Kroll and Mulaney also wrote and performed the show Oh Hello on Broadway. Mulaney was a writer on Saturday Night Live and co-created and co-wrote Bill Hader’s character Stefon.
