Homeland Security officials are promising tighter security at airports after Friday’s failed attempt to start a fire on a Northwest Airlines flight on approach to the airport in Detroit.
US-bound travellers at Amsterdam’s airport have been undergoing body searches, according to a report. The Northwest flight originated in Amsterdam.
In California, however, there’s no indication that security has changed.
“I think we’re going to see now new efforts to monitor bringing on powders that can be mixed and combined into incendiary mixes,” said Steve Emerson, a security expert. What about syringes?
