Like other disasters before it, the Yosemite Rim Fire is providing some tremendous beauty in photographs and video.
Today, the Yosemite National Park released this time-lapse video of the unfolding disaster.
Mother Jones has created this video which shows why fighting this particular fire is so difficult.
The fire was burning 1,000 acres an hour earlier this week. Yesterday it burned 300 acres an hour.
Meanwhile, in northern Minnesota, the Forest Service reports lines are holding against the Knife Creek Fire in the Superior National Forest, which has burned 100 acres and is 40 percent contained. It’s expected to rain in the area today.
