Despite the best efforts of his students to keep him around, the Rochester teacher who swore in class is resigning.
A week ago, students at Mayo Senior High School organized a #FreeThorson campaign in support of English teacher Jon Thorson, who dropped an “F-bomb” in class in frustration of students who didn’t do their assignments.
He disappeared from class for a couple of weeks and school and union officials wouldn’t say why, citing privacy rules.
Last night, the school board in Rochester accepted his resignation, effective on June 9. He had been a teacher in the school district for 10 years.
