President Obama today unveils an executive order that’s designed to require more gun sellers to conduct background checks, even if they’re doing business only at gun shows or online.
It’s likely only coincidence that on the same day, the BBC has aired a visit to an American gun show.
“In America, where the right to bear arms is engrained in the Constitution, any moves by the president to tighten the rules will be fiercely resisted,” BBC News correspondent Jon Sopel says.
