North Branch woman sells truck to teach daughter a lesson

Is this what really qualifies as a “dream vehicle” for a teenager?

It’s part of an ad on Craigslist Minneapolis that got an unidentified North Branch woman the attention she was looking for.

The woman posted the ad putting the truck up for sale to teach a lesson to her still-too-young-to-drive daughter.

The ad says:

So, because I’m the World’s Meanest Mom, and my 15 year old daughter has decided that her grades don’t matter, that she can disrespect myself and her siblings on a daily basis, and that she has the right to skip school and run away from home, I currently have every teenage kid’s dream vehicle up for sale (because it’s titled in my name, I can do that, you see).

1998 Dodge Ram club cab. SLT, 5.9L V8, 158,xxx miles. Runs and drives decent. Lifted, and on 35’s, and comes with a full size matching spare. Previous owner cut off exhaust behind catalytic converter, so unless you enjoy breathing exhaust fumes, and migraines on a regular basis, I’d suggest replacing that. I was quoted $350 from John at Forest Lake muffler about six weeks ago.

It also needs a windshield, was quoted $250 from Greg’s Glass in North Branch. Has typical Dodge body rot meaning the rocker panels are completely gone for the most part, but has a brand new battery and alternator. I’ll even throw in the brake pads that I have sitting here, since that was my next project on it.

Heat is hot, ac is cold. Shifts smooth, and drives as well as anything lifted on 35’s. Kelly Blue Book in fair condition is $3321, so my price reflects windshield and exhaust quotes. Feel free to make me a REASONABLE offer, snd we’ll talk, but I don’t want your XBox, or your 80cc dirt bike that’s currently sitting in milk crates because you bought it as a project, and only got as far as taking it apart…

If the person driving the truck on a daily basis will be attending North Branch high school next year, you will get a $300 discount. Why? Because I AM the World’s Meanest Mom, and would love for her to be reminded every day next year of all of the mistakes she made…
Email only. Thanks.
Title is clean.

Breathable exhaust. Cracked windshield. Rotted body. Bad brakes.

What ne’er-do-well teen who doesn’t drive wouldn’t change her life to keep her hands on that baby?

Mom did not respond to an MPR News request for an interview. She reportedly will appear on TV this evening.

Having raised teenagers, allow me to offer this parental advice: It takes more than public shaming and a rusty truck. Good luck. They didn’t warn us about teenagers back in health class.
