Three days before it was set to perform in Raleigh, N.C.., Pearl Jam has become the latest musical act to cancel a show in the state because of a new state law whose aim was to wipe out attempts in Charlotte to provide anti-discrimination protections to LGBT people.
The group made its announcement with a hand-written note posted on Twitter and the band’s website this afternoon.
The band Boston also canceled its concerta to protest the passage of HB2, which prevents cities from enacting anti-discrimination policies based on gender identity and mandates that students in state schools use the bathroom that corresponds with the gender on their birth certificate.
