When a 94-year-old drove the wrong way on a highway, a hero did too

Thomas Prado’s heroism has us considering to what extent we’re willing to risk our own lives to help someone else.

Prado, of Lubbock, Texas, was driving down a west Texas highway the other day when he saw a 94-year-old woman on the other side of the highway driving the wrong way.

What would you choose: keep in driving, call 9-1-1 and let it be someone else’s problem, or turn around to chase her down and get on the wrong side of the highway too?

He caught up to her. But she wouldn’t stop.

There was only one other thing to do. Drive the wrong way, too.

When he asked if he could call a family member to help her, she told him, “I have a cat.”

“I’m no hero,” he wrote. “But I saw the right thing to do and so can you!”
